Whether you’re just starting out or ready to polish up advanced skills, our structured, relationship-focused classes give dogs and their people the tools they need to thrive together.
Group Class
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® Class
The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® Program (Socialization, Training, Activity, and a Responsible Owner) is the American Kennel Club’s first step in its Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) training series. Designed for puppies up to 1 year old, this program goes beyond basic obedience to promote early development in real-world manners, safe socialization, and responsible dog ownership.
Throughout this 6-week class, puppies and owners will work on:
- Socialization with people and other dogs in a controlled setting
- Learning to accept handling (touching paws, ears, etc.)
- Loose-leash walking and response to name
- Building tolerance for grooming and vet visits
- Responsible owner behaviors (like bringing poop bags, maintaining wellness checks)
- Confidence-building in new environments
The class culminates in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® test, which includes 20 items evaluating both puppy behavior and owner responsibility. Upon passing, you’ll receive an official AKC certificate, medal, and be listed in the national S.T.A.R. Puppy registry.

Beyond Basics: Puppy
Beyond Basics Puppy (5 months – 10 months)
Your pup’s next step toward becoming a well-mannered, confident companion.
This class is designed for adolescent dogs navigating the big, confusing world between puppyhood and adulthood. Whether you’re coming straight from AKC STAR puppy or jumping in fresh, Beyond Basics: Puppy helps bridge the gap with communication, structure, and fun.
We focus on:
- Reinforcing and progressing key foundation skills
- Building duration, distraction resistance, and engagement
- Teaching leash pressure and polite leash walking
- Introducing the long line for recall and safe exploration
- Encouraging confidence, calmness, and impulse control
Each registration includes a slip lead or long line and treat pouch—your starter kit for adolescent success.
